Do you remember Roland Grumieaux?
Roland Grumieaux
Roland Girumieaux
Roland was better known as "Bud." He didn't grow up in St. Francisville but came here when his parents ran a restaurant and pool room in St. Francisville. He was born in Vincennes, Ind., in 1929, and went to Vincennes Flaget and Rivet High School and then to Purdue University.
His first job was shooting pigeons off peoples' houses in Vincennes. He joined the Navy when he was attending Purdue University in 1950 and retired in 1970. Flying airplanes, bunting, fishing, fixing things - all were activities Bud liked to do. After Bud retired, he was comptroller of the Lawrenceville-Vincennes Airport.
He went to Vincennes Catholic Church, St. Francis Xavier Church, and then St. Francisville Free Methodist Church. Roland and Pansy were his parents. He married Ilene Shouse, and they had five children - Richard, David, Belinda Grumieaux Treadway, Robert, and Teresa Grumieaux Breen. He had several grandchildren.
Although his family lived in St. Francisville, off-and-on he would be in places where they couldn't go. Bud was a pilot in the Navy and was a Lieutenant Commander when he retired. His family lived several places where he was stationed.
Bud was living on 11th Street in St. Francisville when he lost his life to cancer. He was a well-respected father and serviceman. Did you meet him?
