Members of Lincoln Trail College's Health Careers Club recently traveled to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, for a tour of the facility. During their visit, members were able to donate eight units of platelets for the facility's patients. St. Jude currently obtains 50 percent of its platelets from donations and purchases, the other 50 percent is at a cost of $500 to $700 per unit. This is an annual field trip for the LTC group, but the first year for the platelet donations. photo submitted
